Reasons to impeach

Yesterday President Donald Trump told congressional Republicans:

“You gotta win the midterms ’cause, if we don’t win the midterms, it’s just gonna be – I mean, they’ll find a reason to impeach me”

They don’t have to look very hard, I can immediately think of several reasons to impeach. There are probably other but these come to mind.

  • The murder of over 100 civilians on suspicion of carrying illegal drugs (probably a war crime and certainly a violation of due process), including 2 killed while clinging to the wreckage of their boat (a war crime)
  • The invasion of Venezuela with its constantly shifting rationales and failure to consult Congress
  • President Trump has made millions, if not billions, of dollars for he and his family, possibly in violation to the Emoluments clause of the Constitution

January 6, 2026

It is the 5th anniversary of the 2021 January 6 insurrection. Remember the heroes of that day, the Police who protected our elected officials.

Do not forget who were the bad guys. Some Republicans would have you believe the bad guys were FBI agents or Antifa in disguise as Trump supporters, peaceful demonstrators attacked by the police and other things that make no sense.

Preserve or destroy

The National Trust for Historic Preservation is charged by Congress with helping to preserve historical buildings. The White House is one of those buildings and a rather uniquely important one.

When President Trump expressed his desire for adding a ballroom to the White House he promised not to interfere with the existing building. Next thing I heard about it, the East Wing of the White House had been demolished.

The nonprofit National Trust for Historic Preservation is now suing. It is too late to prevent the damage that has already been done but may stop further destruction of the White House or other historic buildings.

This is the website of the National Trust for Historic Preservation if you would like to comment or make a donation.
