Is it true about the government shutdown?

Most accounts I have read treat the shutdown as a failure in the Senate of the two parties to agree. Because of the filibuster the budget cannot be passed.

But a few accounts say that Republicans can end the filibuster but they don’t want to. (for example, https://washingtonmonthly.com/2025/10/01/shutdown-republicans-can-end-filibuster/

If this is true, why won’t Republicans end this standoff and re-open the government?

This book is not about making money or investing it; there are plenty of personal finance books that talk about that. It is more about how to spend to maximize your happiness and that does differ greatly among people.

It also discusses how non-financial decisions impact happiness. And encourages the reader to try many things to see what works for them. The goal is to help readers learn how to make their money work for them instead of working for money.

Highly recommended.
